California Workforce Investment Board

The California Workforce Investment Board (WIB) assists the Governor in setting and guiding policy in the area of workforce development. The website includes information about four special WIB committees, a calendar of events and meetings, documents pertaining to workforce development in California, and information about promising practices in local WIBs.

The California Governor's Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities is responsible for providing leadership to increase the number of people with disabilities in the California workforce. Information is listed about the Committee’s Comprehensive Strategy, implementation of California’s Workforce Inclusion Act, Assembly Bill 925, and the Youth Leadership Forum. There are also fact sheets and resources for employers who are interested in hiring people with disabilities, information on the Ticket to Work, and a number of links to disability/employment websites and organizations.

US Department Of Labor, Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP)

ODEP provides national leadership by developing and shaping disability-related employment policy and best practices affecting the employment of people with disabilities. ODEP’s website includes information and resources on topics surrounding disability and employment, including employer attitudes, job accommodations, emergency preparedness planning for employees with disabilities, employment options, disability employment data and statistics, and ODEP-sponsored programs.
Job Accommodation Network (JAN)

JAN is a free consulting service for federal, state, and private employers, and employees and job seekers with disabilities, on job accommodations and the Americans with Disabilities Act. JAN also has specialty information for small businesses and self-employment, a searchable online accommodation database with accommodation examples listed by disability type, and questions and answers on business and employer responsibilities under the ADA.

The Center for Workers with Disabilities is a technical assistance center for states enhancing or developing employment support programs for working persons with disabilities. National Consortium for Health Systems Development (NCHSD)

NCHSD facilitates state-to-state information sharing among states that are developing comprehensive health and service systems for people with disabilities who want to work, supporting states that have received the Medicaid Infrastructure Grant. The website has calendar of events, library of resources, and links to a large variety of resources on disability-related topics (i.e. personal assistance services, employment, transportation, youth in transition, etc.).

Disability Benefits 101 (DB101) assists workers, job seekers, and service providers understand the connections between work and benefits. The website explains in plain language the wide variety of work incentive programs, including the rules for health coverage, benefit, and employment programs. They have recently launched the latest Work and Benefits Calculator, the Plan for Achieving Self Support (PASS) Calculator. Social Security's PASS program can help you set aside money to fund a career goal. DB101's PASS Calculator provides estimates on how setting up a PASS might affect your finances, and can help you decide if the PASS program is something you want to explore further.
Medicare Part D Information

Provides information on basic Medicare topics, such as eligibility, coverage, claims and appeals, as well as information about Medicare and people with disabilities. There is also extensive information on Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage.
California Managed Risk Medical Insurance Board

Lists detailed information on a number of different health care programs available to families and people that are uninsured, including the Healthy Families Program, the Access for Infants and Mothers program, and the Major Risk Medical Insurance Program (for Californians that are unable to obtain coverage in the individual health insurance market).

Information on services for a variety of needs, such as employment, transportation, housing, food, cash aid, and in-home care are also provided.

The Department of Rehabilitation provides services and advocacy resulting in employment, independent living, and equality for people with disabilities. Their website lists the services provided to both people with disabilities and employers, office locations, independent living center locations, and resources on employment and disability.
The Ticket to Work Program

The primary benefit of the Ticket program for SSA beneficiaries is that if they want to go back to work, the Ticket program will connect them with Employment Networks (ENs) that can help them reach their employment goals, AND by electing to participate in this program, when they assign their Ticket to an EN, the beneficiary can return to work without the risk of losing their SSA disability benefits. For the EN, they can continue to do what they do best and get paid for it- this program will provide an additional source of revenue for every Ticket Holder assigned to their organization who returns to work. And, if they want to expand their services, they can reach out to other beneficiaries who want to return to work and are in need of their assistance.
